What Is Involved In A Good Tattoo Design?
If you are thinking of getting a tattoo you will need to do some thinking about what design you want. Some people who want a tattoo may not know what design they want. Most tattoo artists will ask you to put some thought into the design you want. If it is only a small piece many artists have flash books that you can choose from. You may already know what design you want like a Celtic knot for example.
A larger piece, like a back piece or arm sleeve, may take some design by the artist. Mike is constantly drawing designs. As much work goes into the design as doing the tattoo itself.
Many people have tattoos they have had for years and want it covered up. This is very common. These tattoos involve design work by the artist to not only cover up an old tattoo, but to also make the new one look like something. This type of tattoo may be more expensive than starting from scratch.
Flash is a collection of smaller tattoos that can be seen in most tattoo parlors. They are meant to give people an idea to start with or for a quick tattoo of an hour or less. You may not find what you want in flash designs but it is a starting point.

How To Become A Tattoo Artist?
If you ask any tattoo artist they will tell you that doing an apprenticeship is the only way to really learn the trade. Even though there are tattoo and piercing schools you can attend you will still have to do you apprenticeship time. The aspiring tattoo artist will have to be a good creative artist. If your art work is not up to snuff, then you will need to practice.
